I used Omnis for many years and was very happy with them. The web host is fast, there are very few problems, and the price is very low considering the space and bandwidth you are getting.

Support is a mixed experience though. Usually, it’s responsive and you get someone who is helpful. Sometimes you get someone who is rude. They do have a very good “knowledge base” search. For some reason they removed their forum.

There are a few limitations which are huge. First, you are allowed only ONE MySQL database. Second, you cannot setup cron jobs yourself. You have to ask them every time. Third, you cannot create additional FTP or admin accounts.

If you don’t mind the limitations, Omnis will work out very well for you.

We have had nothing BUT problems with Omnis. Our website, that was supposed to NEVER go down because of their “backup systems”, is down consistently. And whenever we call to talk to someone, nobody knows what they’re doing, how to resolve the problem, or when the problem will be fixed. Good luck leaving messages or sending emails, because they are asleep on the job and never respond. I highly recommend looking elsewhere for your hosting.

Nick has been with Omnis for two weeks and this is the 5th outage he has had. During the week they fixed it quickily but on weekends they are not even responding.

Utterly atrocious. My site (thevhive.com) hasn’t been able to reliably access the Omnis database for three days, and my emails to support have been completely ignored. If you want support, do not go with Omnis.

Been with them for about two weeks, and this is the fifth outage in that time. They have a phone line, I called them last night and they fixed the issue in about twenty minutes but today the issue has returned and their phone line is only active on weekdays. I’ve been emailing all day, nothing.

Not very promising, hopefully Omnis can get this fixed.

I firmly agree with the above review….Their srvice people speak in VERY condescending tones and you litterally must watch your P’s&Q’s when speaking to them…they’re the rudest most arrogant customer service department I have EVER incountered. Worse yet…ther is “No manager to speak to when problems arise…just them”….pitiful. Current problem (for a CLIENT site is over a week old. Their resoponse is ALWAYS “We issued a ticket…they’ll get to it when they get to it”….

Plans are cheap, webmail servers are super SLOW and customer service is UNREACHABLE! Their web site claims “award winning customer service” but I have sent 8 emails so far about a problem. Each time I’ve received a ‘ticket number’ but not once I’ve received a response. Not a single time. My problem is now over 3 months old and I can not reach tech support or customer service. In the past I have gotten through after 3 or 4 phone calls but I find tech support is usually less than helpful with short answers and an annoyed tone. Additionally, despite the fact that my payment gets withdrawn automatically each month, I receive automated email notices that my account will be suspended for nonpayment. It has never been suspended and I have never received a response as to why this happens. I definitely so NOT recommend Omnis.com!

Worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. Out of three representatives, all were rude, two hung up on me, and one cursed on the phone. Pricing is mediocre, management is obviously not doing their job right. This company will not be around very long. If you dont want a headache, DO NOT register or host with them.

We started using Omnis in 2001 and have been very satisfied with there pricing and network performance. Their control panel is easy to use and superior to those of other hosting providers. They are clearly a low price leader but offer excellent value for theor services. We are a high-end web hosting company and many times recomment Omnis for low-end sites where a client only needs a small web presence. We use their web hosting as a backup to our services and I give Omnis A++.

Reliable, but was never good with customer service. Would recommend, with reservations, to EXPERIENCED folks, but not for the faint of heart. I’m out for the same reason as previous poster - it’s been nearly 4 months since they introduced new limits on the hosting packages, but existing customers are still waiting to be upgraded. But it’s gonna happen… soon… so they say. Tick tock, tick tock.
